This short holiday is an ideal ‘taste’ of Provence. This 3 night holiday offers you not only the opportunity to visit two world-renowned historical sights but also to taste some of the best wines of the southern Rhône, and accompanied by your local wine expert, discover the secrets of the wine producers craft.
Your holiday is based in the beautiful and historic city of Avignon, the capital of the Vaucluse, Provence. Massive ramparts punctuated by seven gates surround the immaculately preserved medieval centre with the magnificent buildings of the Papal Palace at its heart. You will visit both the stunning Papal Palace and also the famous “Pont d’Avignon” bridge across the River Rhone, the Pont St. Benezet. Also included is a visit to nearby Orange to visit the UNESCO world heritage site of the Théatre Romain which is the best preserved Roman theatres in the western world.
A real highlight of this trip is the two guided wine tours to the vineyards and the cellars of leading family-run wine domaines which will give you the opportunity to appreciate wines from top Côtes du Rhône cru villages such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Your personal wine guide is an expert in the wines of the southern Rhône and will provide you with a fascinating explanation of the vigneron's craft on these relaxed and informative tours.
