Here you will find the answers to some of our clients most frequently asked questions.  If the answer to your particular query isn't detailed here, just email mail@real-provence.com or call us on +33 (0)4 90 05 60 52 and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Q. What's the best time to see the Lavender?

A. Lavender blooms from late June to mid August and is harvested from mid July to late August, the exact time being dependent on the region, the plants and the seasonal weather so if you want to be sure to catch the lavender in bloom you should plan your visit from mid June to mid July.

Q. Can we arrange our holiday so we spend some time just relaxing and then do some exploring?

A. We can make very flexible holiday arrangements.  You could easily combine a week in a rental house with a few days touring.

Q. Can I just book a hotel for a couple of nights or does it have to be part of a complete holiday?

A. We book accommodation only as part of a complete holiday package and regret cannot make accommodation only arrangements.

Q. Why don't you arrange travel to Provence?

A. With the wide choice of options for travel to France from the UK, especially with the convenience and value of low cost flights, we have found that our clients prefer to make their own arrangements according to the type of holiday and region from which they are travelling. This also suits our clients who are travelling to France from outside the UK and are often combining a visit to Provence with a trip to other parts of Europe.  Wherever you are travelling from overseas we will of course be delighted to give you all the advice and help you need in making your travel arrangements.

Q. Why should I book with Real Provence - surely I can make all my holiday arrangements cheaper myself?

A. When you book a holiday with Real Provence you will be using our expert knowledge and service.  Although this will cost you more than if you were to plan and book all these arrangements yourself, your benefits of booking a holiday with Real Provence are:

Our in-depth knowledge - We specialise in three specific areas of Provence which we know inside out.  We have personally visited all parts of the region, the excursions, hotels and self catering properties we recommend.

Our personal service - When you ring our office the chances are that you will speak to one of us so we can talk to you about our holidays, the areas we visit, what you can expect and make suggestions about what might be right for you.  We can arrange a wide choice of holiday types to suit your needs - and our personal service will ensure that your holiday is the very best provencal holiday experience.  Our main operations office is in Provence which means that you can be sure that everything is being taken care of on the spot and of course we are there on hand during the whole of your stay to provide any additional assistance you may need during your holiday.

Itinerary planning - While it can be fun planning your own itinerary, and most of our clients do have their own ideas, our in-depth knowledge of this region means that as well as including some of the 'must see' sights of Provence in your holiday, we can also suggest some more original visits and excursions and take you into the back roads and hidden corners of the area to get to the heart of what we call 'real' Provence.

Reservations - Making your own arrangements may save you some money but it can be very time consuming and you have no guarantee of quality.  We can give you that reassurance and take all the hassle out of the administration.

Q. When should we book our flights if we are making our own travel arrangements?

A. First of all we suggest that you check the availability of the flights for the dates you are planning for your holiday, then check with us for accommodation availability and book the holiday for those dates, them immediately afterwards book your flights.

Q. What's the best time of year to travel to Provence?

A. It depends on what kind of holiday you are looking for.  June, July and August are the hottest months with temperatures high in the 20's and 30's. If you plan to simply relax in the hotel or your rental house this is a great time of year to visit but for touring and certainly for if you plan an active holiday, April May, September and October are the best months.  Many of the smaller hotels and restaurants in the country areas close during the months of November to March so you plan to holiday during these months, your best option is a city stay, maybe including some excursions to the countryside.

Q.  Will I need to speak French?

A.  Provencal people are very welcoming and always enjoy it when visitors to the area speak a little of the language, however most people in the tourist industry in this area speak some English.

Q.  I like the idea of the freedom and independence of a self drive holiday but am not confident to drive in France.  Is there an alternative you can arrange?

A. If you prefer not to drive we can arrange excursions from your hotel base or rental house by private taxi for up to 6 passengers. For small groups of friends travelling together we can arrange vehicles with driver - either comfortable 6 seater people carriers or minibuses which accommodate up to 8 passengers.  We can also arrange a private minibus with a English speaking driver guide or specialist personal guides for an insight into the history and culture of the region.

Q. Why do you not sell travel insurance?

A. Many people these days have their own yearly travel insurance which offers much better value than individual trip insurance.  If you need travel insurance for your holiday this can be easily arranged via your household insurance broker, your bank or the post office at a much more competitive rate than we are able to offer.

Q. All your prices seem to be in British Pounds, can we pay in another currency such as US$ or euros?

A. Of course you can!  The best way if you wish to pay in a currency other than £sterling is to pay by credit card.  You will then be charged at the exchange rate of the day. We take payments by credit card using the PayPal secure system. Just ask us for more details at the time of booking.

Alternatively just ask you bank to pay the GB£ holiday price in cleared funds from your normal account by electronic bank transfer. Currency conversion is then automated.
