Motorail
Motorail services to Avignon run from late May to mid September and offer an excellent way to travel if you prefer not to drive long distances through France but to have the convenience of your own car for your holiday. Trains depart Calais early in the evening and arrive in Avignon early the following morning. There is a wide choice of sleeping accommodation from 4 and 6 berth couchettes to 2 berth first class sleeping compartments. An interesting option is to travel one way by motorail enabling you to take a leisurely drive through France with an overnight stop at either the beginning or end of your holiday. For full details of timetables and to book direct contact click on the link to Rail Europe.
Train Travel
Rail travel to southern France is an increasingly popular option with frequent departures from London Waterloo or Ashford and a simple cross-platform change at Lille for onward TGV to Marseille or Avignon. Journey times are approximately 7 hours 30 mins hours to Avignon, 8 hours to Aix en Provence. During the summer months (June to September) there is a direct rail service from London Waterloo to Avignon with a journey time of approximately 6 hours 15 mins. Tickets can be booked direct via Rail Europe or Eurostar. Just click on the link for more details.
Flight Options
Take advantage of the low cost flight options from many regional airports. The most convenient airports for a Real Provence holiday are Marseille or Nimes which are within 1 to 1hour 30 minutes drive of the areas in which we specialise. However other airports can be equally convenient where it means you are able to take advantage of a low cost direct flight from your local airport and just have a longer driving time to your holiday area on arrival in France. We think that this convenience combined with the ease of French motorway driving makes this is a very viable flight option. So in addition to Marseille and Nimes, we list below the other airports you could consider and the estimated drive time from these airports to our area of Provence together with the airlines which currently fly there from UK regional airports.

New routes are being introduced all the time so it is always worth checking with your local airport to see what flight options may be available. Just click on the links below for details of timetables, availability and fares.

If your regional airport does not offer direct flights to one of the destinations below, your best option might be to fly from your local airport to Paris with onward rail connection by TGV direct from the airport - a fast and frequent service to Avignon and Aix en Provence.

Please note the information we give below is up to date to the best of our knowledge. New routes are being introduced all the time and additional routes are often operated during the summer months so we always recommend checking with your local airport to see what flight options may be available.
